B Fit 4 Winter

B Fit 4 Winter is a standards-based fitness “board game” that enables children to learn, in a fun way, basic condition exercises that will help prepare them for participation in a snow sport including alpine skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and  snowboarding. The game is a collaboration between SIA’s award-winning Winter Feels Good initiative and Skillastics®, an education-based company that produces a variety of games that encourage physical activity, sports and recreation among children. All Skillastics® adhere to physical education standards set by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).

B Fit 4 Winter can be played by a handful of children up to 100 children. Teams can compete amongst each other as they practice exercises with snow sports-related names such as Mountain High Lift, Powder Push Up, Blue Square Balance and others.

The Game kit includes one large 5’X7 foot mat and six smaller but identical mats that can be used by individuals or teams. There are six color coded dice and six bean bags. Individuals and the captain of a team rolls the die and moves the bean bag around the board until it lands on the “activity card” illustrated on the mat. There are many variations on the game that are described in an instruction manual that comes with the set.

B Fit 4 Winter can be used in conjunction with the Winter Feels Good Learning Modules (on-line or in a CD format). Resorts, community organizations and schools will find it effective in teaching basic skills before children even get on snow. The game is suitable for grades 1-8. Elements of the WFG Learning Modules are applicable for grades K-12.
